is spore really as good as people say it is? from what i've heard, it's considered a child's game.

If your serious, I feel bad for you. It is an evollution simulator, not a great one. However the amount of creations you can make and the almost ulimited variety make this game a 5/5 on X-Play. A 9 on Game spot, and several more scores from diffrent sites I have not looked up yet.

True, but if creations are all your after save yourself some cash and buy the creature creator. The gameplay is crude, repetitive and linear (eat, dance, eat, hunt enemy, dance, eat, hunt....)
The space stage is pretty good, and the civ stage is quite fun, but the tribal sucks.

I can agree...however, in the final product you get more creation types. Tribe clothing, civ clothing, space clothing, house creator, boat creator, air craft creator, space craft creator, factory creator and town hall creator. You can see the amount of creatitvity needed for this game.

And it is fun creating. However, its not quite so fun playing with your creations.
And if you don't get to see them in action the novelty wears off quite fast

I agree with you, however, the most fun stages for me, are the creature, space, and cell.And if you did not notice whatever you do with your creation, it gets moreused to it, violence will make you a war type in civ stage, an opurtonistic feeder becoumes very economic in the civ stage, a peaceful creation will be religos in the space stage.

Space is fun, but it does get a bit repetitive (though it lasts longer than the other stages). Cell is also fun, either because its too short to become boring, or because it awakens some pac-man like desire in our hearts. Creature is fun for a while, but by the time you have 4 or so in your pack everything becomes "been there, done that, got the t-shirt (or body part in this case)"
And the peace>religion, anger>war is pretty shallow as things go
