ok, since we are such movie maniacs here, as well as loving monsters and dinosaurs, i had to make the topic, so this is the official discussion for the movies and character.

here.

In popular culture

Main article: Godzilla in popular culture

Godzilla's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
Godzilla is one of the most recognizable action/fictional symbols of Japanese popular culture worldwide and remains an important facet of Japanese films, embodying the kaiju subset of the tokusatsu genre. He has been considered a filmographic metaphor for the United States, as well as an allegory of nuclear weapons in general. The earlier Godzilla films, especially the original Godzilla, portrayed Godzilla as a frightening, nuclear monster. Godzilla represented the fears that many Japanese held about the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the possibility of recurrence.[9] As the series progressed, so did Godzilla, changing into a less destructive and more heroic character as the films became geared towards children. Since then, the character has fallen somewhere in the middle, sometimes portrayed as a protector of the Earth (notably Japan) from external threats and other times as a bringer of destruction though this happens rarely. Godzilla is also the second of only three fictional characters to have won the MTV Lifetime Achievement Award, which was awarded in 1996.[10]

I always hated these kind of movies....(sorry). but I despise how they almost advertise that people are obsessed with destroying something just because it might reduce the population a bit.....booo whoo! I mean if you have some biological specimen that is far better or larger or in any way different from something that has been (in my view, raped) studied to some great extent, than it is to be destroyed...isn't there something extremely wrong with that? another thing, why is it that they always play off of people terror of regular animals and show that it is all better when you kill it? snakes on a plane? all they show is "KILL the stupid insignificant snakes!" insignificant! HA! the only insignificant animal is the human. we are losing the planet's animals because people insist on killing something just because it MIGHT hurt them....do I care if a few people die? not really......(sorry, just me). now, critique me if yo can!

i agree, that is what i hate about monster movies, although the host was really good and had a great reason for the creature to die.

oh that would be great! lets ruin another planet! lets do what ever the hell we want to because "we are better then those animals" HA! an animal at least knows when it is doing to much damage to the environment...and it doesn't reproduce so fricken much, and it doesn't save every fricken person just so someone doesn't die! if someone dies, than he or she dies, it is natural!

Fine, but who says it has to have life, Mars, the moon Europa, all good examples of desolate, but habitable planets.
